Darien EMS- Post 53 does not rely on any government funding for the annual operating budget. The organization depends on its two large fundraisers every year along with community donations to maintain its growing operating budget. Every year following the Memorial Day parade, Post 53 puts on the Food Fair at Tilly Pond Park. In addition, the Limette Doble Memorial Art Show runs at Post Headquarters every fall.
The Memorial Day Food Fair and Community celebration at Tilly Pond Park is a day of celebration and excitement for the town of Darien. Post 53 members work year round to prepare the day of food, live entertainment, games, ambulance tours, and a silent auction. The famous food tents include food from local vendors and Post 53’s own recopies. The event is a day of fun for the entire family and helps to maintain Darien EMS’s free service to the town of Darien.
The Limette Doble Memorial Art Show runs every fall and features some of the most prestigious artists in the area. The event runs three days and features more than 500 pieces of artwork varying in styles and mediums. The artists continually support Post 53 by donating a percentage of the profits to the organization. The show is held at Post 53’s headquarters and runs for one weekend. Look for articles about these two events in the local newspapers for more information or feel free to contact us . Interested artists should contact Post 53 Headquarters or click here.
